-TILLEY/PARAFIN SECTION-
One of several Tilly (and
Primus/Optimus) lamps
Mind you, if you are talking big, this is big....
This Tilley Floodlight projector stands
over 3ft high and has a beam of over 1/4 mile
It runs on parafin (kerosene) with a mantle
only slightly larger than standard Tilley lamps
During 1950/60's scout camps these were
used to illuminate footbal pitches, one at each end, for playing at night,
according to an elderly gentleman I was chatting with once.
This one has been painted, but I have another
in the original black finish.

The later mantles were metal, and not so efficient.
I have several of these radiators including
a much larger version (same base as the Tilley projector shown above)
I also have different versions of this style
of heater made by Alladin etc.

2 Optimus lamps - 1 brass, 1 chrome (new/boxed/unused)
Some Tilleys - Older brass,
recent chrome, and table lamp with Tilley shade
(spot another Tilley Iron

2 Tilley Indoor lamps - 1 newish,
1 old - both work fine, as above pics show
1 has a corrugated plastic
shade, the older lamp has an original glass shade.
An Enders parafin cooker and
my "workhorse" cooker in use most days - the Optimus (must get rid of some
of those -
I have a stack several feet
high, including a couple of twin burner versions)

A giant Tilley Radiator. Has seen
better days, but has attractive Bakelite handle and pump handle
I found the stove on the left whilst carbooting
today - a "Vimal" - made in India, and it worked fine. I even gave
it a quick polish!
It's a massive stove - the little Optimus
No:96 next to it is less than 1/4 it's size.
I have several cookers like the Vimal -
Optimus/Primus/Monitor and some whose names escape me at the moment.
