Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2024 voting is open!

2023 Picture of the Year: Incense plays an important role in Vietnamese life. It is considered as a sacred bridge to connect the visible life of human beings and the world of heaven, earth, and gods. Photo taken in Quang Phu Cau village, on the outskirts of Hanoi, Vietnam. In this picture, incense sticks are being set out to dry, after being dipped in the incense solution.

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2024 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2024) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 27 September 2025, 23:59:59 UTC.

Вікі любить пам'ятки 2025 в Україні / Wiki Loves Monuments 2025 in Ukraine: екватор конкурсу

Привіт! Сподіваємося, що у Вас та Ваших рідних усе максимально добре. Дякуємо, що ви вже взяли участь у конкурсі цього року! За першу половину конкурсу в українській частині конкурсу завантажено понад 13500 фото, взяли участь більше ніж 120 конкурсантів та конкурсанток. Україна вже вийшла на 5-ту сходинку міжнародної таблиці за кількістю поданих робіт. Нагадуємо, що завантажувати світлини та відео можна до 31 жовтня включно.

Станом на сьогодні 26 із 27 регіонів України представлені на знімках, включно із тимчасово окупованими регіонами, однак поки що відсутні світлини з Луганської області. Також усе ще дуже мало світлин із Севастополя (2 фото — 1 об’єкт), Херсонської (10 фото — 5 об’єктів), Миколаївської (39 фото — 13 об’єктів), Донецької областей (42 фото — 24 об’єкти) та АР Крим (75 фото — 21 об’єкт).

Якщо у вас є фото чи відео з цих регіонів, або ви знаєте когось, у кого є фотоархіви звідти (особливо з Луганщини), то було б добре, щоб ці роботи теж були завантажені!

P.S. Якщо ще не пробували, то також хочемо звернути увагу, що можна спробувати новий спосіб завантаження світлин через веб-додаток — він дуже зручний, якщо ви вантажите фото з телефону. Але також ми не відмовлялися від нашого постійного завантажувача, тож обирайте будь-який зі способів. Веб-додаток: app.wikilovesmonuments.it.

Information on temporary account IP viewer rights

Hello Antanana,

On November 12, temporary accounts will be enabled on Commons. The IP of unregistered users will then be hidden for most users. You, as a patroller or license reviewer, are eligible to request the new temporary account IP viewer right, if you need it to continue fighting vandalism and abuse on Commons. If you want to request the right, please file the request here. Please be aware that you also have to accept the Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy in your preferences. Розпочався Конкурс наукових зображень 2025 — долучайтеся!

Вітаю! З 20 листопада до 20 грудня 2025 року триває щорічний Конкурс наукових зображень 2025.

Ви брали участь в українських наукових фотоконкурсах раніше, тож, можливо, знайдете час та бажання долучитися цього року. Як і в минулі роки, подавати зображення можна у п’яти категоріях: «Люди в науці», «Мікроскопія», «Живі організми», «Нефотографічні зображення», «Загальна категорія» (в останню зокрема можна подавати астрономічні та археологічні зображення). Також є спеціальна відзнака для зображень, які показують наслідки російського вторгнення в Україну.

Якщо у вас є релевантні зображення в архіві — наприклад, світлини науковців за роботою чи фото з наукових експедицій — саме час розібрати їх, подати на конкурс і поборотися за призи та приємні сувеніри. Своєю участю ви також допоможете проілюструвати Вікіпедію — найбільшу онлайн-енциклопедію, яку читають мільйони людей.

З безпекових міркувань фотографії та відео будівель, інших впізнаваних об'єктів та панорами місцевості приймаються на конкурс лише якщо вони зроблені до 1 листопада 2025 року включно. Виняток з цього обмеження можна зробити за попереднім погодженням з оргкомітетом.
