Day 1 - 27,000 visitors.
Not too many wanted coffee, and even less
ordered a pastry!
(It was very hot and I sold mostly cold
drinks)
The best marketing we could come up with
failed!
(and I had to pay the customer an appearance
fee)
Looked OK at night (and just as busy...)
Yes - they are the same pastries!!!
It wasn't that bad really - look, I have
a queue!
It helps when you are next to this aircraft
carrier - HMS Illustrious
And it also helps when you have two lovely,
witty, intelligent
assistants who can also make espresso!
It rained today -
Shame I bought bottles of mineral water/Coke/Orange
Juice etc-
They wanted coffee!
And here you see the dilligent Barista at
work
(pics courtesy of Ken "David Bailey - who's
he?" Wilson)
I can't stand having my picture taken, but
I need them
for advertising, honest!
Whoops, forgot this one - Ken and I comparing espresso!
And I inadvertently cropped out Ken's wife
Penny and their son, Alex
(right of the picture, next to Alex's pushchair)
All in all, so far a great experience - My
espresso procedure
honestly hasn't changed much for it - just
learnt to hone
some areas, like how to avoid the massive
amount of
espresso grounds round the grinder!
And why not to order loads of pastries, and then throw most of them away!
Ken and family paid a visit today, and saw
Ms. Gaggia being
more heavily used. Thanks for coming,
Ken & family -
hope you had a great day anyway.
