The grinder page

(Most (except the RR45 and Cimbali) photographed by my good friend Derek Wright, using a Nikon Coolpix 990)

Latest addition to the stable

Ebay win - a Gaggia MD64.  Doesn't look big, but it weighs a ton

(actually, it weighs 16kgs).  It looks larger, also, due to the higher body and short hopper -

It's over 20" tall, but 16" is body, whereas other grinders, like the Cunill are the same height, but only 11"

is body, with a tall hopper above.  Stepless adjustment and quiet.

It grinds fast, has a very short throw dosing lever, and although it says it fills every 6 doses, I didn't

think it meant that it half fills the doser and then after every 6 clicks it fills again.  I feel a

modification to the autofill sensor....

Cimbali Cadet

manufactured 1995 - heavy life in a local airport cafe, but serviceable.  Now a spare used with
the 3 group in the kitchen and ready for emergency service in the trailer.
Automatic fill mechanism and nice rotary stepless grind adjustment (wasted nearly a kilo of beans
dialling it in after I had removed and cleaned the burrs).

Brasilia (Rossi) RR45
63.5mm flat burrs, 12kg, 0.25hp

And just to show how tiny it is....

pictured next to the tiny 3 group Gaggia!
(spot the Bregant grinder hiding behind the RR45)

This is the Fracino T3 Grinder -
my current workhorse in the trailer
11kg - 300watt - 60mm flat burrs

Very attractive Stainless Steel body

Adjustment (and slider to hold beans in when hopper is removed)

Other side!

And next to the semi commercial grinder (Bregant)

...which is actually an attractive grinder with an all metal doser
(both grinders are substantially larger than the lberital)

The Iberital was my first espresso grinder, which due to the worm drive, had stepless adjustment - a great feature
The Iberital has now been passed on to another alt.coffee regular

-Hand Grinders-

These are two of my little hand grinders bought at boot sales for a few pence  - with the aid of
a Black and Decker drill they can grind for espresso quite quickly!
(They are quite small - approx 6 inches high)

And I musn't forget our first attempt at making a tamper (my neighbours effort)...
(58mm solid brass - weighs over 1lb - no need to apply pressure!)
