The Wiki Science Competition (WSC) is an international scientific photography competition organised by the Wikimedia community across the world. This year, in 2025, Wiki Science Competition in Bangladesh is organised by CUET Photographic Society-CUETPS in association with BUET BMES Student Chapter. You can upload images from any of the categories using the following link:
Wiki Science Competition was initiated in Estonia. In 2015, the contest was expanded to all of Europe and in 2017, it was organised internationally for the first time. This year the event is organised for the 5th time globally and for the 1st time in Bangladesh.
Rules
- Submissions are open from 1 October to 12 November 2025 (BST, UTC+06:00). Uploads before or after this period will not be accepted.
- Upload your images with meaningful scientific descriptions. It should clearly explain what the image shows and where or how it was taken. Include additional description if needed to identify the subject.
- Anyone can upload images, except the jury members. There is no limit on the number of submissions. You must have an account on Wikimedia Commons to upload an image. Click here to create a new account.
- You must submit your own images. In the case of multiple authors, all co-authors' names must be provided. Institutional uploads require authorised representatives.
- Only images licensed under
CC-BY-SA 4.0,CC-BY 4.0, orCC0 1.0are eligible. - Upload in the highest resolution possible. Images must be at least 2 megapixels, unless there is any technological limitation. Avoid watermarks or logos.
- Images created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools will be disqualified.
Prizes
- The best images in each category (up to a maximum of 7) will participate in the international competition.
- The selected images from each category were exhibited at the Chattogram District Academy of Fine Arts and Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) premises campus as part of the Catch The Light, Season III organised by CUET Photographic Society-CUETPS and will be exhibited at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) premises by BUET BMES Student Chapter.
